This Surface Mount Ceiling Frame is perfect to mount our LEDPanelStore LED Panel Lights in locations without suspended ceiling grid (e.g. plasterboard ceilings) . Surface mount kits are ideal for offices, schools, hospitals etc. where recessed mounting is not possible.
The kit screws to the ceiling. The panel is then slid in, and the remaining side then screws on to complete the installation.
The frame has sufficient depth to accommodate the LED driver and one of our emergency packs if required. (the driver should be placed in the centre of the panel to allow good heat dissipation)

Once the frame is assembled and the ends clicked in, I hope we dont have to get to the panel after as its going to be near impossible to removed the ends without destroying the frame plastic corners. Better to have some small screws in one end holding the end plate. the plastic corners will harden over time then shatter when levered out.

I was advised over the phone that the kits are flimsy until fully installed. This is very true. However, I did not want the other type where the screw heads show on the corner joints so I used these. Once up on the ceiling with the final end section fully inserted they look OK and are certainly strong enough for the job. The website makes it perfectly clear that these units are not suitable where the emergency kit is required but this was not a concern in my case.

This fitting kit was exactly right for our LED panel lights and drivers and was simple to fix to the ceiling. However, the LED panels are 1200mm long and need to be slid into the fittings from end - be aware that if there is not a 1200 gap between the fitting end and the wall, one side will have to temporarily left to swivel. The appearance of the fitting is excellent, however one of the corner mouldings was in three pieces, due to a molding defect. Rather than the hassle and time of return, I was able to make an effectively invisible repair using pvc pipe weld. Shame Otherwise a perfect 5.

the screws placed internally don't hold the sides together as well as they could - i would have preferred predrilled holes on all sides so I could place all the screws externally. But looks good, and easy to install the light.

Easy to assemble, but I had noticed on some reviews of this kit that people had to drill additional holes as only two were evident. Although not in the instructions, you apply six screws on the inside to nip the rails together, then slide the panel in & finish off by fitting the end frame & fit the last two screws from the outside.

Instuctions need revising, lots of holes and screws but only shows where 2 of the screw go, dont know if i was doing wrong but if i didnt do what i did the casings would not have been as secure!

Quite flimsy difficult to mount squarely to the ceiling. I ended up mounting onto a wooden sub frame which I then fixed to ceiling

Used the surface frame to fit under plasterboard ceiling. Easy to fix together and screw to ceiling, although we had to drill the frame as the corner fixings weren't pre-drilled as they should have been. No big deal.

A very cost effective and well engineered solution to surface mounting LED panels and no doubt fit Ledpanel Store supplied panels perfectly, but the kit was approximately 2mm too small in length and breadth for the Auralum panels I used leaving small gaps at each corner - not a showstopper, but detracts from a perfect job!
